Description
The NEXT experiment searches for Majorana neutrinos through neutrinoless double beta decay (0𝜈𝛽𝛽) using a high pressure gaseous xenon time projection chamber. This technology offers excellent energy resolution and tracking capabilities, providing a competitive option for the tonne scale level necessary to fully cover the Majorana mass range corresponding to the inverted hierarchy of neutrino masses. Here we review the NEXT program, highlighting recent results from the NEXT-White detector at the Laboratorio Subterraneo de Canfranc and discussing the status of the NEXT-100 detector construction. We will also present the plans for future tonne-scale detectors.
